Fishing is a dynamic industry, with fishermen regularly trading
in fishing vessels and quotas.
Since the beginning of 2007, the ANIFPO has become involved in
the recruitment of crew for our member vessels and the PO is happy
to answer enquiries from fishing vessel owners wishing to avail
of this service.
The ANIFPO encourages the skippers and crew of all member vessels
to avail of the training opportunities afforded by the Sea Fish
Industry Training Association (NI) Ltd and its sister associations
in the UK. Based in Portavogie and managed by Ms. Maritta Culley
the Training Association specialises in the delivery of a wide range
of essential training courses for local fishermen. Grants maybe
available for certain courses and new ideas for additional courses
are always welcome.
Further information is available by contacting
us or direct from the Sea Fish Training Association on 028 4277

A variety of EU and national schemes have been available to assist
local fishermen to improve safety and accommodation on board their
fishing vessels. Additional funding has enabled owners to make improvements
to their fishing vessels to help maintain and improve the quality
of the catch, as well as helping with diversification.
During 2008 the European Fisheries Fund will be launched. This
scheme will present several new opportunities to help fishermen
invest in the industry.
Further information on current and future schemes is available
from the ANIFPO office. Please contact us.
