On the 5th March 2007 the ANIFPO’s Fish Sales Division
was launched. This followed extensive consultation with PO members,
to ascertain their current and future marketing requirements. With
control of the Fish
Sales Division vested in the hands of active fishermen, the Division
is well placed to adapt to the changing circumstances of the market.
The day-to-day operations of the Fish Sales Division are handled
by an experienced and knowledgeable team who are ideally equipped
to deal with future plans and challenges.
Fishing vessels from outside the membership of the ANIFPO are
welcome to join the Fish Sales Division, and benefit from the very
competitive commission that is charged. The ANIFPO is proud that
since its launch the Fish Sales Division has already achieved significant
financial savings amongst the member vessels.
Seafish must be delivered to the market in prime condition so
as to attract premium prices. The close proximity of the fishing
ports around the Irish Sea to the
fishing grounds ensures swift delivery from the cod-end to the plate.
The ANIFPO’s Fish Sales Division uses distinctive blue
boxes that have been specially designed to ensure the quality of
the catch during transport, as well as maintaining the best hygiene
standards. These plastic boxes can be damaged and the ANIFPO have
agreed special terms with the manufacturer for the return of damaged
boxes for re-cycling.
The sales team work closely with fish and shellfish buyers to
ensure a seamless supply chain. New marketing opportunities are
actively pursued.
